Nathalie Turmel holds a bachelor's degree in psychoeducation and a graduate diploma in supervision of interventions for people with autism spectrum disorder. She also received training in the systemic approach from the Groupe d’étude des systèmes humains (GESH).

She worked for 10 years as a special education worker with ASD clientele and then 25 years as a psychoeducator, including 7 years as a professional coordinator. She was trained in multimodal analysis and intervention by the Quebec Service of Expertise in Severe Behavior Disorders (SQETG) and provided training to care providers, professionals and partners of the CIUSSS for many years. She also uses this biopsychosocial approach from a systemic perspective to better understand the function of a behavior or a manifestation considered problematic so as to be able to address the causes. By recommending intervention strategies to parents that help them better cope with their child's characteristics, or by teaching a new skill or a replacement behavior to the child, she aims to improve the quality of life of the person and their entourage.
