Clara worked for 4 years with families; children, adolescents as well as parents in her work within the Batshaw Youth Protection team. She has accumulated a rich and varied work experience in the health and social services network as well as in the community sector.
Clara Houle Roy holds a Bachelor's degree in social work from Université Laval and is in the process of completing a Master's degree in social work from the Université de Sherbrooke. She works on cases of school integration issues, anxiety, emotion regulation, trauma related to sexual assaults, and behavior disorders. As part of her work experience, she has developed sensitivity to the different experiences of newcomers and multicultural families.
Her involvement with the organization Ni viande, ni objet gave her the energy to offer tools to individuals so that they can make their voices heard. She also sat on the board of directors of an organization providing services to men who were victims of sexual violence in childhood. What motivates Clara in her engagement is having the opportunity to give everyone the chance to be heard and recognized. She conveys those same values of equality, listening, open-mindedness and empathy in her practice.
Her interventions support families and individuals, drawing on systemic and cognitive-behavioral approaches while remaining centered on each person's emotions and experiences. Clara develops techniques with her clients to help them regain balance and move toward family and/or personal goals.
