Dr. Sylvestre is interested in the various issues concerning human nature: loneliness, love, death, the difficulties and suffering related to everyday life and its limits, etc. He has adopted an integrative therapeutic approach grounded in humanistic-existential principles. Consequently, he is committed to understanding the person as a whole.

Kevin Sylvestre holds a doctorate in clinical psychology (D.Ps.) from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. It was his natural curiosity about human phenomena that led Dr. Sylvestre to enroll in university studies in psychology in 2004, after obtaining a college diploma in natural sciences.

Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Sylvestre gained a diverse range of work experience that has allowed him to maintain a practical and salutary pragmatism in psychotherapeutic work. From manual laborer in a metallurgical plant to editor-in-chief of a faculty student newspaper, through housekeeping at a CSSS, serving as president of a provincial student association, working in fast food, and community mental health intervention, Mr. Sylvestre’s early professional experiences enabled him to acquire many practical skills, in addition to allowing him to discover “from the inside” the psychology of human relationships in different settings. At present, in addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sylvestre teaches at the college and university levels.

The key element of psychotherapy for Dr. Sylvestre is the creation and maintenance of a trusting bond between therapist and client. In addition, he places particular importance on the meaning that human experiences have for each individual.

Whether it occurs on a personal, professional, family or marital level, suffering is often at the heart of the human experience. That said, this suffering can also be conceptualized as the cornerstone of personal growth, thus allowing for an optimistic perspective on the difficulties that every human being is called to face during their lifetime.

Passionate about reading the major authors in psychology, philosophy, literature and spirituality, he has knowledge that allows him to have a personalized and diverse understanding of the human being and their individual complexity.

Thus, by using a systematic, applied method of work to help individuals better know themselves, better understand their emotions and ultimately better manage their difficulties, he is able to provide psychotherapy tailored to the client's experience.
