Familio: creating a better world for everyone
We believe it is important to share with you the thoughts and motivations that underpin the founding of Familio. Like many large-scale projects that characterize our society and the principles of sustainable development, Familio began as a dream, an intention to do meaningful work to leave a more resilient community and planet to those who follow, and to take part in creating a better world.
For Familio, integrating into a community is a privilege that carries the responsibility to contribute to the development of the social fabric and to individual and collective flourishing. Like a caring neighbor, we are committed to cultivating connections with the people and organizations around us.
Our vision
Our vision is to develop and promote innovative approaches in health and social services in order to have a positive influence on the communities in which we are engaged, to improve professional practice and the well-being of families and individuals. Our actions are based on values of empathy, professionalism, collaboration and self-fulfillment.
Familio was conceived and built with the goal of having a positive impact on the people who consult us and the professionals with whom we collaborate.
An interdisciplinary approach
Our interdisciplinary approach allows the public to access a diverse pool of professionals in social services in order to ensure an appropriate response to their needs. This principle applies not only to clients, but also to other community professionals such as doctors, teachers, workers from other clinics and organizations in the sector. For example, it is common to work in co-intervention with our professionals, parents and the teacher to support a child and their family coherently in their development.
In addition, we put a lot of energy into offering a space that inspires respect and kindness, that is, a safe place where people feel confident. For us, a clinic is much more than offices; it is a place where one fulfills oneself, where intense emotions and situations are experienced. We cry, we laugh, we discover ourselves, we build bonds with our therapist and much more. Thus, it is essential to provide an atmosphere and a setting that allow people to express themselves freely in complete confidentiality.
A stimulating place for professionals
For professionals, Familio aims to create a stimulating place both professionally and personally. Practicing at Familio means exercising one's profession in a caring and collaborative environment, where teamwork and respect for expertise are at the heart of our values. By the very nature of their work, professionals face sometimes difficult situations. Thus, relying on colleagues and their expertise with a spirit of complementarity and collaboration is of great help. We also seek to create work environments that facilitate the practice of physical activity and create living spaces to develop friendly relationships at work.
Because we care about the environment
Protecting the environment matters to us. We do our part to fight climate change, preserve natural resources and provide a healthy environment. For example, each year through the Carbone Boréal program of UQAC in Chicoutimi, we tally all our clients' visits and offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by travel from their homes to our offices by planting trees. And because we prefer to be more generous than less, we even consider remote appointments as travel. After two years of activity, 130 trees have been planted on naturally barren areas of the Québec boreal forest, where the forest does not regenerate on its own.
At Familio, our commitment is to make quality services offered by the professional suited to the person's needs accessible, to complement existing services so that together, we are able to improve the health of the population. This is how we engage in the community.
Familio started from a dream and today we are fortunate to be living it. Thank you to all who trust us and welcome us — it is thanks to you.
